Day 01 :

Lhasa Arrival & Altitude Acclimatization

Your private vehicle and driver meet you at Lhasa Gonggar Airport for the transfer to your city hotel. The rest of the day is kept deliberately quiet to help your body adjust to Lhasa's elevation of 3,656 metres: settle into your room, skip showering and alcohol on this first day, and drink plenty of water. Once you're feeling steady in the early evening, take an easy walk around the Barkhor Street area for your first glimpse of pilgrims circling the Jokhang Temple. Dinner is kept light, and a mild headache on this first day is a normal part of adjusting to the altitude.

Day 02 :

Lhasa Monastery Pilgrimage — Drepung & Sera

Spend the morning at Drepung Monastery, once the largest monastery in Tibet, before continuing in the afternoon to Sera Monastery to watch its famous courtyard debate sessions, in which monks test each other's grasp of Buddhist philosophy through animated gesture and argument. Drive on to Shigatse, Tibet's second-largest city. Day 07 :

Everest Sunrise & Sakya Monastery

Rise early for sunrise over Mount Everest, viewed from the Rongbuk Monastery area before the drive back toward Shigatse. En route, visit Sakya Monastery, seat of the Sakya sect of Tibetan Buddhism and known for its distinctive grey, white, and red striped walls.
